Equine Experience
Alex's father,
Tony, instilled her love of horses from an early age,
teaching her not only to ride but also on horse anatomy and
stable mainteance. She spent
many years at the stables helping to look after his
horses while gaining her own riding experience. Although not interested in
the competitive side of this field, Alex just loves to "hack
out" and feel "at one" with these wonderful creatures. She has
many years horse riding experience and although a couple of
minor injuries have made her more cautious as she has got older
(!), she still loves to be around them even if not actually
riding. Alex's riding has mainly been English but during her
extensive travelling she does love the feel and comfort of the
western saddle!
Many hours have been
spent in the saddle and some of the most enjoyable have been on
trekking and overnight camping trips, particularly in New
Zealand where Alex was riding one of her favourite breeds, the
Appaloosa. As well as riding, she has acted as a counterbalance on the
cart when out with her friend who regularly carriage drives in
England.
